Around a hundred, mainly in the UK and US, but there are now more mainland Europe charities becoming involved. Individual charity teams are smaller than in events like London and New York, with 20 a typical size.

WHY IS IT GOOD FOR FUNDRAISING?

Some of the US charities arrange meet ups during race week and pre event breakfasts. As one of the six World Marathon Major events, its popularity with charities will increase.

WHAT ABOUT AFTER THE RACE?

Post event functions are not as common as in London and New York, but more are beginning to happen.

HOW MUCH IS RAISED?

No figures are published, but the amount will be much lower than comparable events, however this will grow significantly over time.

The Berlin Marathon raises more money for charity than any other event in Germany

HOW TOUGH IS IT TO GET A CHARITY ENTRY?

It's relatively easy, although 2024 charity entries were fully allocated much earlier than previous years, with most charities full by February. Fundraising pledges are low, with some only asking for £750. US charities typical ask for much more with $3000 a more common number.
