HOW MANY CHARITIES ARE INVOLVED?
Hundreds of charities have guaranteed entries and many hundreds of others have runners using their own entry to raise funds for them.
WHY IS IT GOOD FOR FUNDRAISING?
It has a long history as a fundraising event and is the second biggest in the UK, after the London Marathon. Many charities have a high profile out on the course and they provide a range of support from point of sign up to post race.
WHAT ABOUT AFTER THE RACE?
There is an extensive charity village at the finish in South Shields and the majority of the bigger charities have a marquee where they welcome
HOW MUCH IS RAISED?
The 2023 event raised £25million.
HOW TOUGH IS IT TO GET A CHARITY ENTRY?
It's very easy. The average fundraising pledge is £300-£400 but some charities will accept lower depending on availability.
