Your First 5K Terms & Conditions
Last updated: September 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to participation in Your First 5K, an eight-week supported running programme provided by The Sapphire Running Company.
By purchasing a place on Your First 5K, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully before completing your purchase.
1. About Your First 5K
Your First 5K is an eight-week programme designed to help beginners work towards completing their first 5K.
The supported programme currently includes an eight-week training plan, eight weekly podcast episodes, three live online sessions, access to a private WhatsApp group and ongoing support during the programme.
The programme provides general running information, guidance, motivation and support. It does not provide medical advice, medical supervision, physiotherapy or individual clinical assessment.
2. Programme Price
The price of the supported Your First 5K programme is £29, payable when you register.
This is a one-off payment for the programme and is not a subscription. There are no automatic recurring payments.
Your place is confirmed once payment has been successfully completed. We will send confirmation and further information to the email address supplied during registration.
3. Health, Fitness And Participation
Running, walking and other forms of physical exercise involve inherent risks and may result in injury or, in rare circumstances, serious illness or medical complications.
By participating in Your First 5K, you confirm that you understand the physical nature of the programme and are responsible for deciding whether you are fit and able to participate.
If you have concerns about your health, fitness or ability to exercise, or have an existing medical condition or injury that could affect your participation, you should seek appropriate advice from a suitably qualified healthcare professional before beginning the programme.
You should exercise within your own abilities and stop exercising if you experience pain, dizziness, chest pain, unusual shortness of breath or any other symptoms that cause concern.
You are responsible for selecting an appropriate and safe environment for your training and for taking reasonable precautions relating to matters including weather, traffic, terrain, visibility and personal safety.
4. Medical Disclaimer
Information provided through the training plan, podcasts, online sessions, WhatsApp group, website and other programme materials is provided for general informational and educational purposes.
It should not be considered medical advice and is not a substitute for diagnosis, treatment or advice from a doctor or other appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
The Sapphire Running Company cannot assess your individual medical circumstances through this programme.
5. Training And Individual Progress
Everyone responds differently to exercise. The programme therefore does not guarantee that you will be able to run continuously, complete every training session or achieve a particular finishing time.
Walking, run/walk and adapting sessions to your ability are acceptable parts of the programme.
You are responsible for deciding whether to undertake, modify, postpone or stop an individual training session based on your circumstances and how you feel.
6. Live Online Sessions
The programme includes three scheduled live online sessions.
Dates and joining instructions will be communicated to participants. We may occasionally need to change the date or time of a session and will provide reasonable notice wherever possible.
Participation in the live sessions is optional and missing a session does not prevent you from continuing with the programme.
7. WhatsApp Group
Participants may be invited to join a private WhatsApp group for support, encouragement and communication during the programme.
Joining the WhatsApp group is optional. Participants should be aware that joining a WhatsApp group may make their name, profile information and telephone number visible to other members of the group, depending on their WhatsApp settings.
Participants must communicate respectfully and must not use the group for harassment, inappropriate behaviour, unsolicited commercial promotion or other activity that could adversely affect other participants.
We reserve the right to remove someone from the group where reasonably necessary to protect other participants or the operation of the programme.
8. Cancellation And Your Right To Change Your Mind
If you purchase Your First 5K online, you normally have the right to cancel your purchase within 14 days of the date of purchase without giving a reason.
The paid programme content will not be made available before the programme begins on 2 November 2026. If you cancel within your 14-day cancellation period, you will receive a refund of the programme fee.
To cancel, contact The Sapphire Running Company and clearly tell us that you wish to cancel your place on Your First 5K.
Once the 14-day cancellation period has expired, refunds are not normally available simply because you change your mind or decide not to participate. This does not affect your statutory consumer rights, including any rights you may have if the programme is not supplied as agreed.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory consumer rights.
9. If We Cancel The Programme
In the unlikely event that The Sapphire Running Company cancels the entire programme before it begins, participants will receive a refund of the programme fee.
If circumstances outside our reasonable control affect part of the programme, we may make reasonable changes to its delivery, including rescheduling an online session or providing an appropriate alternative.
Your statutory rights are unaffected.
10. Programme Materials And Intellectual Property
Training plans, podcast episodes, recordings, written materials, graphics and other resources supplied as part of Your First 5K remain the intellectual property of The Sapphire Running Company or the relevant rights holder.
Your purchase gives you permission to use programme materials for your own personal, non-commercial use.
Programme materials must not be copied, reproduced, distributed, sold, published, uploaded or shared with others without prior permission.
11. Personal Information
Personal information supplied when registering for Your First 5K will be handled in accordance with The Sapphire Running Company's Privacy Policy.
We will use the information you provide as reasonably necessary to administer the programme, process your registration, communicate with you and provide the programme and associated support.
Participation in third-party services such as WhatsApp or the platform used for live online sessions may also be subject to the privacy terms of those services.
12. Conduct
Your First 5K is intended to provide a positive and supportive environment for beginners.
Participants are expected to treat other participants, programme representatives and contributors respectfully.
We reserve the right to restrict or remove access to interactive elements of the programme where a participant engages in abusive, threatening, discriminatory, harassing or otherwise seriously inappropriate behaviour.
13. Availability And Changes
We may make reasonable changes to programme content, schedules or delivery where necessary, provided those changes do not materially reduce the overall service purchased.
We cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability of third-party platforms or services used to deliver elements of the programme.
14. Liability
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Subject to your statutory rights, The Sapphire Running Company is not responsible for losses resulting from a participant failing to follow reasonable safety guidance, exercising beyond their abilities, disregarding medical advice or using programme information in a way for which it was not intended.
Participation in running and physical exercise carries inherent risks. Participants remain responsible for making appropriate decisions about their own participation, training environment and physical capabilities.
15. Consumer Rights
These Terms & Conditions do not affect any rights you have under applicable consumer law.
Services supplied to consumers are subject to statutory requirements, including requirements concerning reasonable care and skill, and digital content also carries statutory consumer protections.
